How does the trading process work?

A walkthrough of a GatSwap trade from listing to completed transfer.

Every trade on GatSwap follows the same compliant process, regardless of what's being traded or where the parties are located.

The four steps

  1. 1List your firearm with photos, condition grade, and trade preferences.
  2. 2Browse listings and send a trade proposal to someone whose firearm you want.
  3. 3Both parties agree to the trade terms, then select an FFL dealer from the GatSwap network.
  4. 4Each party ships their firearm to the assigned FFL. The FFL completes Form 4473 and the NICS check for each person. Once both clear, the firearms are released.

GatSwap notifies you at every step — when your proposal is accepted, when your firearm arrives at the FFL, and when the transfer is complete.

Both parties in a trade must pass a NICS background check at the FFL. If either check results in a denial, the trade is unwound and firearms are returned.
