How do condition grades work?

GatSwap's firearm condition grading scale explained.

GatSwap uses a standardized 5-grade condition scale to help buyers and sellers set consistent expectations:

  • Factory New (FN): Unfired, in original factory packaging.
  • Excellent (EXC): Minimal to no wear, may have been fired but shows no cosmetic or mechanical issues.
  • Very Good (VG): Shows light wear from normal handling and use. All mechanics function perfectly.
  • Good (GD): Moderate wear, possible minor surface rust, scratches, or finish loss. Fully functional.
  • Fair (FR): Heavy wear, significant cosmetic issues, or minor mechanical defects. May need light gunsmithing.

Misrepresenting condition is a violation of GatSwap's Terms of Service. If a firearm doesn't match its listed condition, the receiving FFL can flag it and GatSwap will initiate a dispute.
